It is a known fact that women generally outlive their husbands by about four years. Over and over again, I have been told that longevity is
possible because of genetics. But, recently I have read that probably only 30 percent is due to genetics. So here’s the good news, most of us should be able to get into our late 80’s, at least, especially if we’re living right.
Someone has said, “Women live longer than men because they are not married to women.” This man obviously believes that men internalize stress rather than letting it go and I get the feeling he also thinks that women are responsible for creating the stress. There are
many reasons for stress in a man’s life and it is a known fact that stress plays an important role in cardiovascular disease.
It’s expected that by 2030 life expectancy should “even up” between men and women. I wondered why and found that this change is expected because of the decline in smoking by men. Now we are getting down to the truth of the matter and we women can be less “stressed” over the statement presented here in the above paragraph suggesting women are
responsible for men dying early. Yes, women, also, suffer from stress. In fact, they have relatively equal stress and always have.
This seems like a gruesome subject for shirlandyou, but after writing that women talk more than men, I think this comparison is also appropriate. Between the ages of 15 and 24 years, males are four to five times more likely to die than females. This is because young men can be pretty reckless- they drive faster, play more dangerous sports and smoke and drink more than young women.
I can’t write about this subject without stepping on someone’s toes. However, I can’t help but think that watching NASCAR and seeing TV ads, and billboards can rev up drivers’ speed. I often think those cars
whizzing by us and darting in front of us are driven by drivers emulating race car drivers. Men have higher rates of fatal motor vehicle and other accidents, suicide, cirrhosis of the liver, respiratory cancers and emphysema, all related to behaviors encouraged in men.
I talked to one elderly woman recently who said, “Who wants to live an extra ten years, you are just extending the years of sickness you will experience.” I’d rather think that the older you get, the healthier you’ve lived.
Summing this up, if young women want their prospective husbands to live as long as they do, look for a good sensible driver and one who doesn’t make poor lifestyle choices. Actually, this is done by choosing a man that desires to please God with his actions and with his life. What are your thoughts on this?
